ILM-DSA is partnering with a local coalition to support immigrant rights in the workplace and combat ICE Raids by canvassing local businesses to get them signed up for Siembra NC’s Fourth Amendment Workplace Training. 
The 4th Amendment prevents unlawful search and seizure, and violating it with warrantless searches and raids of businesses and community meeting places has been a tactic routinely used by ICE to terrorize our individuals throughout the country. The 4th AWT teaches businesses and workers the difference between different types of search warrants, and the rights they have in their own workplace to avoid being detained illegally. Getting businesses to sign up for this training is a valuable step to protecting their workers against potential raids from ICE. Members of Siembra will be holding this training session to teach interested members how to canvass businesses for 4th Amendment Trainings. You will learn how to approach businesses, talking points, and best practices when dealing with management or owners. Canvassing can be a long process, but doing it together can help protect our neighbors in Wilmington and get us all practice discussing issues and reaching out to areas of the community we may not know well.
This will be a long running campaign, but each business that we can get signed up is a tangible win for workers rights against authoritarian overreach.
